Head Boy & Girl Message

Rowley Hall Primary School elected a Head Boy and Girl in 2009, A message from them both can be found below...

As part of our School Council we suggest various ideas to the rest of our council and they put thought, action and time into our ideas. We also go by our mission statement which is ‘we grow and learn as part of a safe and happy community where we are all equally valued and supported to be the best we can be..’ We know that when we put forward our opinions, thoughts, and ideas these will be thought over and valued.

The School Council

The School Council contains 2 representatives from every class in the school (Year 1 to Year 6), 1 girl and 1 boy along with 2 year 6 pupils representing Early Years. They hold meetings once a month, at the meetings councillors raise issues that their class would like to be discussed. Rowley Hall Primary school very much believes in promoting student and pupil voice across the entire school.

The School Council Aims....

The council serves to give the pupils across the school a forum in which they can raise issues and also help to solve them.

The council meetings are also attended by Mrs Townsend and Mrs Brabazon but its the pupil councillors who chair and minute the meetings. Each councillor is given time in class to share, collect and feedback information to the rest of the class.

The school council at Rowley Hall Primary School play an important role in what decisions are made at the school, they decide on how best to spend certain school funds and suggest how the school could be improved for everyone.

Examples of School Council Work....

The School council helped to raise over £1,000 for the Children of Chernobyl, which allowed a group of children to visit the area and receive medical and dental help. The children spend the day at our School and they visit us every year.

What our Year 3 Councillor thinks about the School Council....

'I think being a School Councillor has made the school a better place. We have all tried our best. I feel being a School Councillor is really good because we have helped the school. I think it has improved the school very much. Going to meetings are good because we get to discuss the ideas.

Further information about the School Council, its role and achievements will be added to the website shortly.

PLAYGROUND BUDDIES

We have a team of playground buddies in school who are committed to making our playground a fun place to be. The buddies are there as listeners, communicators and above all a friend to all.
